Cancer Services

Park Ridge Cancer Services has been awarded national accreditation by The Commission on Cancer (COC) and the American College of Surgeons and also won the Outstanding Achievement Award for a first-time program.

In fact, Park Ridge Health is the first hospital in western North Carolina to win this award and is one of only 66 other hospitals in the U.S. to obtain it.

This highly-coveted award is a tribute to physician and staff teamwork and has established Park Ridge Cancer Services as a leader in providing quality cancer care.

  • Access to cancer-related information, education, and support
  • A cancer registry that collects data on type and stage of cancers and treatment results and offers lifelong patient follow-up
  • Ongoing monitoring and improvement of care

The Infusion Center

Designed with the guest's comfort in mind, the infusion center provides infusions of the latest chemotherapy drugs and newly-developed medical breakthroughs, including anti-angiogenesis therapy, immunotherapy and biotherapeutics.

Our staff includes highly-trained nurses who provide personalized and compassionate care in a patient-centered and comfortable environment.

Infusion therapies such as IV antibiotics, arthritis infusions, iron infusions and therapeutic phlebotomy are also offered.

Education and Early Detection

Education and early detection are critical when it comes to preventing and caring for patients with cancer diagnoses. Each year, we offer educational programs about ways to prevent cancer (i.e., smoking cessation classes, and site-specific programs for areas such as lung, prostate, breast and colon.)

When cancers are detected at an early stage, chances of survival greatly improve. Advanced technology such as digital mammography and the Light Speed CT scanner facilitate early detection.

Genetic Testing

We also offer genetic testing for people with or at risk for breast, colon or ovarian cancer. This testing, which can cost up to $3,000, is not covered by Medicaid or many insurance companies. So, patients already diagnosed with cancer or those with a strong family history of cancer can choose to be tested to determine if they possess genes that could be passed on to their children.

Children of parents identified as "at-risk" are encouraged to start cancer screening at an early age to increase survival rates.

Cancer Rehabilitation

Our commitment is to fighting cancer. Cancer rehabilitation services help the patient and family to remain as independent as possible throughout the continuum of care. These services help patients to cope with the activities of daily living and enable them to resume normal activities. Some of the rehabilitation services available or by referral are:

  • Stomal therapy
  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Speech therapy
  • Activity therapy
  • Nutrition support
  • Lymphedema management
  • Music therapy
  • Social Services to assist in financial and social transitions associated with a cancer diagnosis

We also offer various support services including:
