Classes

Whether you’re a first-time mom or adding to your family, you’ll find the support you need at The Baby Place. Our childbirth classes are a great way for expecting parents to not only learn about the stages of pregnancy and details of childbirth, but also about the changes that come with adding a new member to ones family. Tours and classes in breastfeeding basics are also offered.

The Baby Place Experience Tour

Have your questions answered about delivering at The Baby Place. We invite you to explore our new unit while learning about birth options, registration, services and amenities available here at Park Ridge Health. The tour group begins in The Baby Place and Surgery waiting area located down the hall from Polly's Gift Shop at the Main Entrance of the hospital. We encourage all who deliver at Park Ridge to attend this free tour.

Celebrate Pregnancy One Day Childbirth Class

This is not your typical childbirth class! This class is offered in an interactive format to help you learn and retain all the right and most important information. Please bring three comfy pillows and a baby doll or stuffed animal to class. Topics covered in the course include the following:

• Dealing with pregnancy ailments
• Labor process & labor support techniques
• Breastfeeding & newborn care
• Tour of The Baby Place

Registrants signing up to take this class at Park Ridge Health should enter at the main entrance of the hospital. Registrants signing up to take this class at The Health Adventure (Biltmore Square Mall ) should enter at the outside entrance of the mall. Don't forget to bring 3 pillows and a baby doll or stuffed animal to class. This class is $65.00 per couple.

Breastfeeding and Newborn Care

This class discusses the benefits of breastfeeding, feeding patterns, proper latch and positioning. This class is offered as the last segment of the Celebrate Pregnancy One Day Childbirth Class at 2:45 p.m. The dates and locations of this class follow the above Celebrate Pregnancy Class schedule. This class is $25.00 per couple.

Breastfeeding Clinic for Spanish Speakers

We invite all Spanish speaking mothers to this FREE class that will cover troublesome breastfeeding issues and solutions to overcome them. Join us for free childcare, refreshments and a chance to win a $25.00 gift card! This clinic is open to employees and community members.
